A Review of Caroline's Holiday Gown!

Hey guys! Today I have a review of Caroline's Holiday Gown for you! For future reference, here's the site pic:

Now, let's get on to the review!

Here is an overview of the outfit. It includes a dress, hair headband, a pair of gloves, and a pair of shoes. We'll start with the gloves and the dress.

The gloves are a little longer than elbow-length and are made of white satin material. I like that they're long and not just another random pair of short gloves, but they're extremely hard to get on.

The dress is made of a quite thick material in a pattern of light and dark purple stripes and red roses and orange leaves on green vines climbing up the divides between the stripes. The dress is actually embroidered, a very impressive and lovely feature from American Girl.

A closeup of the pattern on the dress.

Now we'll focus on the bodice. It's divided from the skirt of the dress by the belt and the buckle, and it features puffed sleeves and a rouched neckline.

Here's a closeup of the neckline. It is made of light purple satin that matches the light purple on the dress. Although I like the material, I wish the neckline was either less wide or less low. As it is, I think it looks very awkward on the doll, and it needs constant adjusting to get it to look like it does in the site pic.

The puffed sleeves are some of the most darling things ever and have to be my favorite feature of the dress. They're trimmed with the same material as the neckline.

Here are the belt and buckle. The buckle feels like real metal, which I like. I was disappointed that the belt is no more than a ribbon, though. I'd like it to be made of something more substantial and be attached better to the dress - it's not attached anywhere at the front and so flops around sometimes.

Next we have the hair headband. It's a braid of platinum blond hair that's attached to a white headband with gold trim. I think this could have been a really phenomenal piece - the hair braid looks so realistic and just like it's part of her hair! - but the gold trim ruins it by making it very obvious that this is an added-on headband, not part of her hair. It does not at all lay flat and appear natural like in the stock photo. I think that, if AG was trying to make the gold look like a decorative hairpiece, they should have gone with something more comb-like that stuck up more so it would appear that it was a braid of her hair with a hairclip for added jazz instead of a headband with some hair stuck to it.

Last, but not least, we have the shoes.

OMG GUYS.

I.

LOVE.

THESE.

SHOES.

The embroidery is so cute and matches the dress perfectly, and the colors are gorgeous. <3 Definitely my fave part of the outfit.

Overall, I would rate this outfit a 3 out of 5. The dress is lovely except for a few minor flaws, and the shoes are just amazing, but the gloves are very hard to get on and the headband looks quite fake. I would recommend this outfit to Caroline fans or lovers of historical clothing, but to others I would say either look for just the dress and the shoes online or purchase a different item.

I hope this review helped! Do you have Caroline's Holiday Gown? Do you want it? What are your thoughts on it? Comment below! :)
